Developing integrated marine-energy technology
Pliosaur Energy Limited is developing patented turbine technology intended to convert wave energy, tidal energy or both resources acting together through a shared rotor system.
The company received Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase 1 funding to support feasibility work associated with the technology and continues to progress its engineering and commercial-development programme.
Pliosaur Energy remains a development-stage company. Future technical performance, project deployment and commercial outcomes will depend on further engineering, testing, environmental assessment, consenting, partnerships and finance.

Renewable generation and debris recovery
In addition to generating renewable electricity, the platform is designed to create an opportunity to intercept floating marine debris during wave-energy operation.
Overtopping water passes through an integrated collection screen before entering the elevated reservoir and turbine. This arrangement could allow floating plastics, discarded fishing gear and other debris to be recovered during routine maintenance.
The quantity and type of material collected would depend on local environmental conditions and the operation of each project.
