Baseload power
Predictable power from the sea. Tidal cycles can be forecast years ahead. Combined with wave generation and deployment across multiple locations, Pliosaur is designed to contribute a more dependable renewable electricity supply.
British marine renewable energy
A scalable marine-energy platform designed to harness tidal streams and ocean waves, deliver predictable renewable power and help remove floating debris from the ocean.
Why Pliosaur Energy
Our technology brings together predictable generation, two marine energy resources, modular engineering and wider environmental value in one integrated offshore platform.
Predictable power from the sea. Tidal cycles can be forecast years ahead. Combined with wave generation and deployment across multiple locations, Pliosaur is designed to contribute a more dependable renewable electricity supply.
One platform. Two renewable resources. The platform is designed to capture energy from both tidal streams and ocean waves, increasing the renewable-energy potential of each deployment location.
Clean energy that cleans the ocean. Integrated collection screens are designed to capture floating marine debris while the platform generates renewable electricity.
Designed to grow. A modular architecture designed to progress from individual installations to larger connected marine-energy arrays.
Power offshore. Landscapes protected. Locating generation at sea reduces the amount of land required for generation infrastructure and limits its visual presence across the terrestrial landscape.
Cleaner oceans
The Pliosaur platform incorporates a debris-collection screen designed to intercept floating marine waste carried through the system.
Collected material can then be removed by operators, allowing renewable-energy infrastructure to contribute to cleaner seas as well as cleaner electricity.
An integrated platform
Pliosaur Energy is taking a systems approach to marine renewable energy. Generation, structure, mooring, deployment, maintenance and environmental value are considered as parts of one integrated system.
The aim is to address the engineering, operational and infrastructure challenges that have limited the commercial deployment of marine energy.
Built to scale
The platform is being developed around modularity: prove the system, improve it through deployment and expand into larger marine-energy arrays.
Minimal landscape interference
Locating generation offshore reduces the amount of land required for renewable-energy infrastructure and limits its presence across the terrestrial landscape.
The comparatively low profile of the Pliosaur platform is designed to reduce its visual impact when viewed from the coast.
A British opportunity
Pliosaur's proposed marine-energy arrays could create long-term demand for British maritime engineering, manufacturing and offshore operations.
Deployment could create new activity for fabrication, assembly, vessel operations and long-term maintenance.
The programme is designed to draw on UK capability in steel, electrical systems, shipbuilding and offshore engineering.
Large-scale deployment could support skilled employment and sustained economic activity in coastal regions across the United Kingdom.
