Marine baseload power
Tidal generation is predictable, but the output from a single location rises and falls through each tidal cycle. The opportunity comes from combining arrays at locations with different tidal phases.
As generation falls at one location, another array several hours out of phase may be generating more strongly. Combining these complementary generation profiles creates the potential for a dependable minimum level of renewable electricity across the portfolio.
Cleaner oceans
The Pliosaur platform incorporates a debris-collection screen designed to intercept floating marine waste carried through the system.
Collected material can then be removed by operators, allowing renewable-energy infrastructure to contribute to cleaner seas as well as cleaner electricity.
